حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ [الواقعة: 30] عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ شَجَرَةً يَسِيرُ الرَّاكِبُ فِي ظِلِّهَا مِائَةَ عَامٍ لَا يَقْطَعُهَا قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ وَأَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَيَقُولُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَاقْرَأُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ [الواقعة: 30]
Qatadah, while explaining Allah Almighty’s statement {وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ} … and in extended shades, narrates from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, in Paradise there is a tree under whose shade a rider will travel for one hundred years, yet he will not be able to cross it.” Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: “If you wish, recite this statement of Allah Almighty: {وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ} … and in extended shades.”
