Hadith 8755

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from Hudaybiyyah, these verses were revealed: { إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَکَ فَتْحًا مُبِینًا۔ لِیَغْفِرَ لَکَ اللّٰہُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِکَ وَمَا تَأَ خَّرَ وَیُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَہُ عَلَیْکَ وَیَہْدِیَکَ صِرَاطًا مُسْتَقِیمًا} … Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory, so that Allah may forgive you your past and future sins, and complete His favor upon you, and guide you to the straight path. The Muslims said: O Messenger of Allah! Congratulations to you for what Allah has granted you, but what is there for us? In response to them, this verse was revealed: {لِیُدْخِلَ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِی مِنْ تَحْتِہَا الْأَ نْہَارُ خَالِدِینَ فِیہَا وَیُکَفِّرَ عَنْہُمْ سَیِّئَاتِہِمْ وَکَانَ ذٰلِکَ عِنْدَ اللّٰہِ فَوْزًا عَظِیمًا} … So that Allah may admit the believing men and believing women to gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide therein forever, and remove from them their sins; and that is, with Allah, a great success.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … In Dhu al-Qa'dah of the 6th year of Hijrah, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and approximately 1,400 Companions set out from Madinah to Makkah with the intention of performing ‘umrah. However, the polytheists of Makkah stopped the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and his Companions at the place of Hudaybiyyah. Then, those people inclined towards reconciliation, and the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) also agreed to make peace with them on the condition that ‘umrah would be performed the following year. Further conditions were also stipulated, but a large group of the Companions disliked this treaty, among whom the notable figure was Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radi Allahu anhu). In any case, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and his Companions sacrificed their animals there and shaved their heads, and then set out to return. On the way back, this surah was revealed to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), in which this incident is mentioned and this treaty, in terms of its outcome, was declared an open victory. The following year, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed ‘umrah, and in the 8th year of Hijrah, Makkah Mukarramah was conquered.
