Narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: During the journey of Hudaybiyyah, we were with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I asked him about a certain matter three times, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give me any answer. I said to myself in my heart: O son of Khattab! May your mother lose you, three times you insisted on questioning the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but he did not give you any answer. Thinking this, I mounted my ride and moved ahead, fearing that perhaps some revelation might be sent down about me. Suddenly, a caller called out: O Umar! Where is Umar? I turned back, thinking that something had been revealed about me. When I presented myself, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tonight, a surah has been revealed to me that is dearer to me than the world and whatever is in it, that is: {إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَکَ فَتْحًا مُبِینًا لِیَغْفِرَ لَکَ اللّٰہُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِکَ وَمَا تَأَ خَّرَ} … Indeed, We have given you a clear victory, so that Allah may forgive you your past and future sins.
