Tawoos says that a man asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the meaning of this verse: {قُلْلَاأَسْأَلُکُمْعَلَیْہِأَجْرًاإِلَّاالْمَوَدَّۃَفِیالْقُرْبٰی} … Say, "I do not ask you for any reward except love for kinship." Saeed bin Jubair said: Here, the kinship of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is meant, but Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: O Saeed! You have acted hastily. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had kinship with every small and large tribe of Quraysh. This verse was revealed about them: {قُلْلَاأَسْأَلُکُمْعَلَیْہِأَجْرًاإِلَّاالْمَوَدَّۃَفِیالْقُرْبٰی} … I do not ask you for any reward for conveying (the message), but I do ask that you maintain the ties of kinship between me and you.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There was a relationship of kinship between the tribes of Quraysh and the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The meaning of the verse is absolutely clear: I do not ask you for any reward for admonition, counsel, or for preaching and inviting you; however, I do ask for one thing—that you at least consider the kinship that exists between me and you. If you do not wish to accept my call, then do not accept it; that is your choice. But at least refrain from harming me. If you cannot be my supporters, then at least, on account of kinship and familial ties, do not cause me distress and do not become an obstacle in my path. It should be well understood that the family (Aal) of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, in terms of lineage and ancestry, is the noblest family in the world. Loving them, honoring and respecting them, is a part of faith. However, this verse has no connection to that subject.
