It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyida Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), Sayyida Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) sent a dish of dates and clarified butter as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a stone bowl. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: Go and invite whoever you meet. So people began to enter and eat. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his blessed hand on the food, supplicated for blessing upon it, and recited over it whatever Allah willed. Meanwhile, I did not leave anyone but invited him. The people ate, were satisfied, and left, but some of them remained inside and continued chatting. Now, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) felt shy to say anything to them, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) went out of the house and left them inside. Then Allah the Exalted revealed this command: {یَا أَ یُّہَا الَّذِینَ آمَنُوا لَا تَدْخُلُوْا بُیُوتَ النَّبِیِّ … … لِقُلُوبِکُمْ وَقُلُوبِہِنَّ}

Brief Explanation
Benefits: …

O you who have believed! Do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when you are permitted for a meal, without waiting for its preparation. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, then disperse, and do not linger, engaged in conversation. Indeed, that was troubling the Prophet, and he is shy of you, but Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask them (the wives of the Prophet) for anything, ask them from behind a partition; that is purer for your hearts and their hearts.

In this, there is mention of an etiquette regarding the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: that whenever the Companions are invited for food or drink or for any other matter, they should not enter the house of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam without permission, and after the matter is completed, they should immediately return to their own homes and not remain sitting and conversing in the house of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. A guest should always conduct himself with this etiquette towards his host. Hays: a dish prepared from dates, cheese (or flour), and clarified butter.
