عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى أُمِّ هَانِئٍ عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى {وَتَأْتُونَ فِي نَادِيكُمْ الْمُنْكَرَ} [العنكبوت: 29] قَالَ كَانُوا يَخْذِفُونَ أَهْلَ الطَّرِيقِ وَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ فَذَلِكَ الْمُنْكَرُ الَّذِي كَانُوا يَأْتُونَ قَالَ رَوْحٌ فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى {وَتَأْتُونَ فِي نَادِيكُمْ الْمُنْكَرَ} [العنكبوت: 29]
It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this verse: {وَتَأْتُونَ فِی نَادِیکُمُ الْمُنْکَرَ} … (O people of Lot!) You commit evil in your gatherings. What is its interpretation? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They used to throw stones at passersby, mocked them, this is the evil which they used to commit in their gatherings. Ruh, the narrator, said: This situation is the meaning of Allah Almighty’s statement: {وَتَأْتُونَ فِی نَادِیکُمُ الْمُنْکَرَ}

Benefits: … The command of Allah the Exalted is: {وَلُوْطًا اِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِہٖٓاِنَّکُمْلَتَاْتُوْنَالْفَاحِشَۃَ مَا سَبَقَکُمْ بِہَا مِنْ اَحَدٍ مِّنَ الْعٰلَمِیْنَ۔ اَئِنَّکُمْ لَتَاْتُوْنَ الرِّجَالَ وَتَقْطَعُوْنَ السَّبِیْلَ وَتَاْتُوْنَ فِیْ نَادِیْکُمُ الْمُنْکَرَ فَمَا کَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِہٖٓاِلَّآاَنْقَالُواائْتِنَابِعَذَابِاللّٰہِاِنْکُنْتَمِنَالصّٰدِقِیْنَ۔} (Surah Al-Ankabut: 28, 29)
And We sent Lut (alayhis salam) when he said to his people, "Indeed, you commit such indecency as none among the worlds has ever committed before you. Is it your situation that you approach men, and commit highway robbery, and commit evil deeds in your gatherings?" But the only answer his people gave was that they said, "Bring us the punishment of Allah if you are among the truthful."
And We sent Lut (alayhis salam) when he said to his people, "Indeed, you commit such indecency as none among the worlds has ever committed before you. Is it your situation that you approach men, and commit highway robbery, and commit evil deeds in your gatherings?" But the only answer his people gave was that they said, "Bring us the punishment of Allah if you are among the truthful."
