It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey, and his companions had gone far ahead in walking. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited these two verses aloud: {یَا أَ یُّہَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوْا رَبَّکُمْ إِنَّ زَلْزَلَۃَ السَّاعَۃِ شَیْئٌ عَظِیمٌ۔ یَوْمَ تَرَوْنَہَا تَذْہَلُ کُلُّ مُرْضِعَۃٍ عَمَّآ اَرْضَعَتْ وَتَضَعُ کُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَہَا وَتَرَی النَّاسَ سُکٰرٰی وَمَا ہُمْ بِسُکٰرٰی وَلٰکِنَّ عَذَابَ اللّٰہِ شَدِیْدٌ۔} … O people! Fear the wrath of your Lord; indeed, the earthquake of the Hour is a terrible thing. On the day you see it, every nursing mother will forget her nursling, every pregnant woman will miscarry, and you will see people as if they are intoxicated, though they are not intoxicated, but the punishment of Allah is severe. When the noble companions heard these verses, they spurred their mounts, thinking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to say something important. When the people gathered around him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know what day this is? Then he himself said: This will be the day when Adam (peace be upon him) will be called. Allah, the Exalted, will call out to him: O Adam! Send forth those destined for Hell into Hell. He will say: O my Lord! How many? Allah, the Exalted, will say: Out of every thousand, send nine hundred and ninety-nine to Hell and one to Paradise. Hearing this, the companions were astonished and stunned, and their laughter ceased. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw this situation, he said: Act and rejoice! By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad! You will be among two kinds of creatures, and whichever group they are with, they increase its number, that is, Gog and Magog, those destroyed from the children of Adam, and the progeny of Iblis. Hearing this, that state left the companions. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Act and rejoice! By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad! You will be like a small mark on the side of a camel or like a mark on the knee of an animal among those people.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Further clarification of this hadith will be found in the following narration:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will say on the Day of Resurrection: ‘O Adam! Stand and separate the portion of the Fire.’ He will say: ‘At Your service and all goodness is in Your Hands, O my Lord! What is the portion of the Fire?’ Allah will say: ‘From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine.’ At that time, (such terror will overtake people that) the child will turn grey-haired, every pregnant woman will miscarry, and you will see people as if they are intoxicated, though they are not intoxicated, but the punishment of Allah is severe.” Someone said: “O Messenger of Allah! Who among us will be that one (who is saved)?” The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Nine hundred and ninety-nine will be from Ya’juj and Ma’juj, and one from you.” Upon hearing this, the Companions said: “Allahu Akbar.” Then the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Are you not pleased that you will be one fourth of the people of Paradise? By Allah! I hope that you will be one fourth of the people of Paradise. By Allah! I hope that you will be one third of the people of Paradise. By Allah! I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise.” Upon hearing this, the Companions said “Allahu Akbar” out of happiness. Then the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “On that Day, your number among the people will be like a white hair on a black bull, or like a black hair on a white bull.” (Sahih Bukhari: 3348, 4741; Sahih Muslim: 222)

It is understood from this that on the Day of Gathering, creation will be assembled in great numbers, and among them, the progeny of Ya’juj and Ma’juj and Iblis will be extremely numerous. For details regarding Ya’juj and Ma’juj, see the chapter of hadith number (13023).
