تفسير من سورة إبراهيم إلى سورة الشعراءInterpretation from Surah Ibrahim to Surah Ash-Shu'ara
بَابُ: «وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَ »Chapter: "And We [angels] do not descend except by the command of your Lord"
Hadith 8673

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِجِبْرِيلَ مَا يَمْنَعُكَ أَنْ تَزُورَنَا أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا تَزُورُنَا قَالَ فَنَزَلَتْ وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيًّا [سورة مريم: ٦٤] قَالَ وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ الْجَوَابَ لِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Sayyiduna Jibreel, peace be upon him: "Is there anything preventing you from meeting me more often than you do now?" Upon this, the following verse was revealed: {وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَ مْرِ رَبِّکَ لَہُ مَا بَیْنَ أَ یْدِینَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَیْنَ ذٰلِکَ وَمَا کَانَ رَبُّکَ نَسِیًّا} … "We do not descend except by the command of your Lord; to Him belongs whatever is before us and whatever is behind us and whatever is between that, and your Lord is never forgetful." This was the answer for Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
