Hadith 8672

Narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me towards Najran, so those people asked me: Do you recite like this: {یَا اُخْتَ ھَارُوْنَ} … O sister of Harun! While Musa (peace be upon him) passed long before ‘Isa (peace be upon him), (so how could Maryam, the mother of ‘Isa, be his sister?) When I returned, I mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: You should have told them that those people used to name themselves after the pious people and prophets who came before them.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There is a gap of approximately thirteen to fourteen centuries between ‘Isa (alayhis salam) and Musa (alayhis salam). One of the relatives of Sayyidah Maryam (rahimahallah) was named Harun, who was named after Harun (alayhis salam). In the verse, Sayyidah Maryam is attributed as the sister of this relative, not as being attributed to Harun (alayhis salam), the brother of Musa (alayhis salam).
