Hadith 8639

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the statement of Allah Almighty: { فَاسْأَ لْہُ مَا بَالُ النِّسْوَۃِ اللّٰاتِی قَطَّعْنَ أَ یْدِیَہُنَّ} "If I had been in the place of Yusuf (peace be upon him), I would have accepted the messenger's word very quickly and I would not have sought any excuse."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Yusuf (alayhis salam) was in prison, and despite the king’s permission, he did not hasten to leave from there, so that no one would think that he was truly guilty and had now been pardoned and released. And Yusuf (alayhis salam)’s intention was to establish proof against them that they had wronged him by imprisoning him. This was the beauty of Yusuf (alayhis salam)’s patience and the strength of his resolve. The Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is expressing humility and modesty.
