عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ خَلِيلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
Narrated by Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has made your companion His close friend (Khalil).
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Among the unparalleled virtues and merits of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is this virtue and merit that Allah Ta'ala has taken him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam as His Khalil (intimate friend). Subhan Allah! It should be remembered that "Khalil" refers to that lover (muhibb) who harbors such true and profound love for his beloved in his heart that there remains no room in his heart for anyone else. This kind of love is called "khullah," and this manner of love can only be adopted in relation to Allah Ta'ala.
