Hadith 8570

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فِي قَوْلِهِ وَاتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلًا [سورة النساء: ١٢٥] قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ رِبْعِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ اتَّخَذَ صَاحِبَكُمْ خَلِيلًا يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Muammar narrated, in light of Allah Almighty’s statement {وَاتَّخَذَ اللّٰہُ اِبْرَاھِیْمَ خَلِیْلًا} … and Allah took Abraham as a special friend, that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Indeed, Allah Almighty has taken your companion, that is, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), as a Khalil (intimate friend).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Since Ibrahim (alayhis salam) was extremely obedient and submissive to his Lord, and his life is filled with great examples of obedience to Allah Ta'ala, Allah Ta'ala also valued his sacrifices and made him His Khalil (close friend).
