It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was on a platform in my house, a jinn would come and take (goods, etc.). I complained about this to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you see him, say: "In the name of Allah! Accept the word of the Messenger of Allah." When he came, I said this to him and caught him. He said: I will not return now. So I let him go. I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What happened to the prisoner? I said: I had caught him, but when he promised not to come again, I let him go. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He will return. When he came again, I caught him and let him go two or three times; each time he would say that he would not return, and whenever I went to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) would say: What did the prisoner do? I said: I catch him, and he says he will not return, so I let him go. He (peace and blessings be upon him) again said: Watch, he will return. Indeed, he came, and I caught him. This time he said: Let me go, I will teach you something by which nothing will come near you. That is Ayat al-Kursi. When I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He is a great liar, but he has spoken the truth to you.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … This was the approaching shaytan. A type of jinn and shayatin is called ghul; its plural is aghwal and ghilan. This is a category of jinn and shayatin, who, according to the belief of the polytheists of Arabia, would appear to travelers in the wilderness. It was their habit to change into various forms. According to the polytheists, they would mislead travelers from their path and cause them to perish.

Benefits: … Ayat al-Kursi and its translation: {اَللّٰہُ لَآ اِلٰہَ اِلَّا ھُوَ اَلْـحَیُّ الْقَیُّوْمُ لَا تَاْخُذُہ سِـنَۃٌ وَّلَا نَوْمٌ لَہٗمَافِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِی الْاَرْضِ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِیْیَشْفَعُ عِنْدَہٓ اِلَّا بِاِذْنِہٖیَعْلَمُ مَا بَیْنَ اَیْدِیْہِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَھُمْ وَلَا یُحِیْطُوْنَ بِشَیْء ٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِہٖٓاِلَّابِمَاشَائَوَسِعَکُرْسِـیُّہُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضَ وَلَا یَئـــُـــوْدُہ حِفْظُہُمَا وَھُوَ الْعَلِیُّ الْعَظِیْمُ۔} … Allah (He is such that) there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. (Surah al-Baqarah: 255)

Ayat al-Kursi is the greatest verse; in this verse, Allah Ta‘ala has introduced Himself in His own speech. Various virtues of this surah have been mentioned, and reciting it at different occasions is Sunnah, for example: in the morning and evening, at the time of sleeping at night, after every obligatory prayer, etc.
