Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I have agreed with my Lord in three matters. I said: If we take the Maqam Ibrahim as a place of prayer, then this verse was revealed {وَاتَّخِذُوامِنْمَقَامِإِبْرَاہِیمَمُصَلًّی} … "Take the Maqam Ibrahim as a place of prayer." I said: O Messenger of Allah! Good and bad people enter upon your wives; if you order them to observe veiling, it would be better, so the verse of veiling was revealed. And when the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gathered with him out of jealousy, I said: It may be that if the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) divorces you, Allah will give him better wives in your place, so in the same way the verse was revealed.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Maqam Ibrahim refers to the stone upon which Ibrahim (alayhis salam) stood while constructing the House of Allah (Baytullah). The footprints of Ibrahim (alayhis salam) are also present on this stone. This is a wondrous, remarkable, and memorable distinction of Ibrahim (alayhis salam). Now, this stone has been preserved within a glass enclosure. After completing the circumambulation (tawaf), it is commanded to perform two units (rak‘at) of prayer in such a manner that the Maqam Ibrahim comes between the worshipper and the Baytullah. The explanation of the remaining verses will be given at their respective places.
