It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand for prayer at night and enter into prayer, he would say "Allahu Akbar" three times, "La ilaha illallah" three times, and "Subhanallahi wa bihamdihi" three times, then he would recite: "A‘udhu billahi minash-shaytanir-rajim min hamzihi wa nafkhihi wa nafthihi."
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Imam al-Albani rahimahullah says: Ibn Abd al-Barr established this chapter on this hadith: "Chapter regarding the one who interprets the Qur’an or reflects upon it while being ignorant of the Sunnah." Then he said: All the people of innovation turned away from the Sunnahs and presented such interpretations of the Noble Qur’an that are contrary to the explanations found in the Sunnahs. Thus, they themselves went astray and led others astray as well. We seek refuge with Allah Ta’ala from His disgrace, and we ask Him for success, protection, and safety. I (al-Albani) say: The reason for the misguidance of these innovators is that they are heedless of the statement of Allah Ta’ala, in which Allah Ta’ala, while describing the rank of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, said: {وَ اَنْزَلْنَآ اِلَیْکَ الذِّکْرَ لِتُبَیِّنَ لِلنَّاسِ مَا نُزِّلَ اِلَیْہِمْ وَ لَعَلَّہُمْیَتَفَکَّرُوْنَ} (Surah al-Nahl: 44) … "And We have sent down to you the Reminder (the Book) so that you may make clear to the people what has been sent down to them." (Sahihah: 2778)
How astonishing it is that nowadays, those who claim adherence to a particular school of jurisprudence attempt to reject the hadiths by taking support from the verses of the Qur’an. Subhan Allah! The very personality upon whom this great Book was revealed, the very person who was entrusted with the duty of explaining the Qur’an, his noble statements are being presented as conflicting with the Qur’an. This is the result of distancing from the Prophetic hadiths, following desires, undue partisanship for a particular sect, and blind imitation. Further, study the chapter in this very book titled "The Prophetic Hadith is also a Proof."
As for the issue of destruction due to milk, is it correct that by "milk" only (1) milk itself is meant, or (2) all its products, or should it be said that (3) milk was mentioned as an example, and the intent of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was that people would become engrossed in foods and drinks? If by "milk" only milk itself is meant, then it is possible that in the past there were such people who, because of milk, expressed aversion to the mosques, or perhaps in the future such people will exist. If we look at the behavior of people in the present age, then the third meaning seems more appropriate, because people, in hotels—especially eateries far from populated areas, ice cream parlors, and dessert shops—become so absorbed in the pleasures of the tongue and the display of wealth that they become heedless of prayer and Friday (Jumu‘ah). Every wealthy person knows the opening and closing times of the big hotels, and he observes them, but he will be ignorant of the times of the five prayers, the beginning time of the Friday sermon, and fulfilling the requirements of those hours. They will sit in hotels near the mosques under the pretext of milk soda until half the night, but will not be granted the ability to perform the ‘Isha prayer. One purpose of going out to the wilderness could also be to seek milk in the pastures.
