. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was never as grieved as he was over the army of the reciters. Regarding them, these verses were revealed: {بَلِّغُواقَوْمَنَاعَنَّاأَنَّاقَدْرَضِینَاوَرَضِیَعَنَّا} … Convey this message to our people that we are pleased with Allah and He is pleased with us. Someone asked Sufyan: About whom were these verses revealed? He said: They were revealed about the people of Bi’r Ma‘unah.
. Then these verses were abrogated.
