Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met Jibreel (peace be upon him) at Ahjaz al-Mara. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Jibreel (peace be upon him): "I have been sent to an unlettered nation, among whom are many elderly men and women, and slaves as well." He (Jibreel) said: "Come, command them to recite the Noble Qur'an upon seven modes of recitation."
