It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I heard a man reciting Surah Al-Ahqaf, and he recited one qira’at, while another man recited a different qira’at which the first had not recited, and then I recited a qira’at which neither of them had recited. So we went to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of the whole matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not fall into disagreement; indeed, those before you were destroyed only because of their disagreements. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Examine among yourselves, and recite according to the qira’at of the one among you who is most learned.
