Brief Explanation
Benefits: … I forgot such-and-such verse. The prohibition of attributing forgetfulness to oneself is because a person may be included among those whom Allah Ta’ala has condemned in this manner: {کَذَالِکَاَتَتْکَآیٰتُنَافَنَسِیْتَھَاوَکَذَالِکَالْیَوْمَتُنْسٰی۔} … Just as Our verses came to you, but you forgot them, so today (on the Day of Resurrection) you will also be forgotten. Therefore, one should avoid saying such things. Moreover, this statement also indicates a person’s laziness and heedlessness. Forgetting the Noble Qur’an is, in reality, not the act of the servant, but rather the act of Allah Ta’ala, and that is in such a way that when the servant becomes heedless in repeating the Noble Qur’an, then Allah Ta’ala, as a punishment, causes him to forget the Noble Qur’an.
