Hadith 839

(وَمِنْ طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ بِنَحْوِهِ) وَفِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَعَلَهَا رُخْصَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِقِلَّةِ ثِيَابِهِمْ ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْهَا بَعْدُ يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُمْ الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ
(Second chain) In this it is stated: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, had given the believers concession in this matter due to the scarcity of clothes, then he, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade it. By concession, this hadith was meant: The water for ghusl is used only when semen is discharged.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The concession for not performing the ritual bath (ghusl) was due to the scarcity of clothing. However, there does not seem to be any relevance as to what connection the lack of clothing has with not performing the ritual bath (ghusl). In any case, this statement is weak.
