Hadith 837

عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ (الْأَنْصَارِيِّ) رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The water of ghusl is used due to the discharge of the water of semen.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … From these ahadith it is understood that during intimacy, as long as ejaculation does not occur, merely the touching of the private parts or penetration does not make the ritual bath (ghusl) obligatory. However, this concession has been abrogated; the clarification of the new ruling is coming in the next two chapters.
