عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ قَيْسٍ الْأَشْعَرِيَّ أُعْطِيَ مِزْمَارًا مِنْ مَزَامِيرِ آلِ دَاوُدَ
Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Abdullah bin Qais Ash'ari has been given one of the flutes from among the flutes of Dawud (peace be upon him).
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The purpose of these narrations is that recitation should be done with proper tajwid, a beautiful voice, melodiousness, and such heartfelt emotion that it brings about tenderness (of heart). The pronunciation of the letters should be such that there is neither deficiency nor excess in it. Excessive affectation and artificiality should be avoided, as is common among many reciters nowadays, especially some of the reciters from Egypt.
