Hadith 8356

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the mosque while some people were reciting the Holy Qur’an in the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Recite the Noble Qur’an. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) listened attentively and then said: Recite, recite, each one is good, but through it seek Allah Almighty. Before such people come who will recite it precisely as an arrow is straightened, but will seek its reward in this world and will not defer its reward till the Hereafter.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By the pleasure of Allah is meant that the recitation should not be done for the sake of reward, seeking fame, or similar motives, but rather the Noble Qur’an should be recited solely for the attainment of Allah Ta’ala’s pleasure.
