Hadith 8352

Sayyiduna Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: On the Day of Resurrection, the Holy Qur'an will come in the form of a pale-colored man. It will say to its companion: I kept you awake at night and made you thirsty during the day, so today I will intercede for you.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The meaning of "al-shaahib" is: a person whose complexion and body have changed due to some ailment or a temporary condition such as travel. Hafiz Suyuti said: The reason for the Qur’an appearing in this state is so that it resembles its companion—the one who, by staying awake at night through recitation and standing (in prayer), and by fasting during the day, exhausted himself. Or it may also be because, just as the companion of the Qur’an’s complexion would change in the world due to his actions, similarly, on the Day of Resurrection, the specific form of the Qur’an will have a changed appearance due to striving on his behalf. And Allah knows best. The memorizer of the Qur’an and other companions of the Qur’an should reflect upon these intercessory words of the Qur’an, so that we may examine ourselves as to whether we will be included among those described by these words or not.
