Narrated from Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Anas al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever says “Subhanallahi al-‘Azim” (Glory be to Allah, the Magnificent), a plant is planted for him in Paradise. And whoever recites the Holy Qur’an, completes it, and acts upon its commands, then on the Day of Resurrection his parents will be crowned with such a crown whose light will be better than your worldly house into which the sun enters. (This is the status of the parents), so what do you think about the one who acts upon it himself?

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The following hadith, which indicates the virtue of the Qur’an, is very beautiful:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “The Qur’an will come on the Day of Resurrection in the form of a pale man and will say to its companion: ‘Do you recognize me? I am the one who kept you awake at night and thirsty during the day. Every trader is behind his trade, and today I am behind every trader for your sake.’ Then he will be given sovereignty in his right hand and eternity in his left hand, and a crown of dignity will be placed on his head, and his parents will be clothed with two garments so precious that the world and all it contains cannot match them. They will say: ‘O our Lord! From where is this for us?’ It will be said: ‘Because you taught your child the Qur’an.’ And it will be said to the companion of the Qur’an on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Recite and ascend in ranks, and recite as you used to recite in the world, for your station will be at the last verse you recite.’” (Al-Mu‘jam al-Awsat of Tabarani: 2/53/1–2/5894, Sahihah: 2829)
In this, the virtue of the companion of the Qur’an is mentioned. But nowadays, only the memorizer of the Qur’an (hafiz) is considered the foremost recipient of these ahadith, regardless of whether he understands the Qur’an or not, or whether he acts upon this Book of Law or not. In this very hadith, the qualities of the companion of the Qur’an are described: that he prefers standing in prayer at night over sleep, and acts according to its rulings, of which only one example—fasting—has been mentioned.
