عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْ كَانَ يُقْرِئُنَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَقْتَرِئُونَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ فَلَا يَأْخُذُونَ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأُخْرَى حَتَّى يَعْلَمُوا مَا فِي هَذِهِ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ وَالْعَمَلِ قَالُوا فَعَلِمْنَا الْعِلْمَ وَالْعَمَلَ
Abu Abdur Rahman says: The companions who taught us the Noble Qur'an informed us that when they would learn ten verses from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, they would not proceed to the next ten verses until they had acted upon those verses. They said: We learned both knowledge and action together.
