Hadith 8338

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Learn the Book of Allah and then safeguard it, and recite it in a melodious voice, that is, recite it beautifully. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, this Qur’an slips away from the hearts faster than a camel that breaks free from its tether.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There are three methods of acquiring knowledge of the Book of Allah: (1) Recitation (nazarah), (2) Memorization (hifz), (3) Translation and commentary (tarjuma wa tafsir).
Whichever method a person has used to acquire knowledge of this Book, it is necessary to maintain it, and the only way to do so is to read it repeatedly and to study its meanings and concepts. The common view among people is that such ahadith pertain only to the memorizer of the Qur’an (hafiz al-Qur’an), but this view is not correct.
