Hadith 8328

Narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best and most virtuous among you is the one who learns the Holy Qur'an and teaches it.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The Noble Qur’an is that speech which the Lord of the worlds composed, and conveyed to the leader of mankind, Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), through the intermediary of the leader of the angels, Jibril (alayhis salam). Just as Allah Ta’ala is unique and singular in His essence and attributes, so too is His speech unparalleled, matchless, and without equal. This is that great miracle of the Noble Lord, that in the past fourteen and a quarter centuries, no one has been able to present anything like it. Those ill-intentioned people who made unsuccessful attempts only spat upon their own faces, and through their notorious actions, the rank and status of the Noble Qur’an became even more manifest.

In this regard, it is a unique speech, the recitation of which brings comfort and tranquility to hearts. It is a most virtuous remembrance (dhikr) of Allah Ta’ala, the final and everlasting message from Allah Ta’ala to humanity for the guidance and rectitude of mankind. Whoever conforms to it attains success and prosperity in this world and the Hereafter, and whoever opposes it is disgraced and humiliated in both worlds.

Where Allah Ta’ala has guaranteed the protection of the Noble Qur’an, there He has also declared it to be the fountainhead of guidance and rectitude. Allah Ta’ala, in order to accomplish these two great—indeed, greatest—tasks, selected the teachers and learners of the Noble Qur’an. Fourteen hundred and twenty (1420) years ago, the revelation of the Noble Qur’an was completed, but never did those who taught and studied this great Book allow any alteration, even in a single diacritical mark.

However, the priorities and inclinations of people in this era have completely changed, and practically, the desire to recite the Noble Qur’an, to teach it to children, and to learn its translation and exegesis (tafsir) has vanished—except for whom Allah wills.
