Kalda bin Hanbal says: Sayyiduna Safwan bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of the conquest of Makkah with milk, the meat of a fawn, and small cucumbers. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was towards the high valley of Makkah. I entered upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) without greeting or seeking permission. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Go back, say "As-salamu Alaikum" and ask if you may enter. Amr reported that this incident was narrated to him by Umayyah bin Safwan; he had not heard it from Kalda. Dahhak and Ibn Harith said: This was after Safwan had embraced Islam. Dahhak and Abdullah bin Harith mentioned the sending of milk and venison, but did not mention cucumber.
