Hadith 8294

Sayyiduna Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) sent his servant to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) so that he could seek permission from him for Amr to visit his wife, Sayyida Asma bint Umais (may Allah be pleased with her). He granted permission, and Amr spoke as needed. When he came out, the servant asked the reason why Amr did not enter upon Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) without permission. Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade speaking to someone’s wife without first seeking permission from her husband.
