عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ اسْتَأْذَنْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ مَنْ ذَا فَقُلْتُ أَنَا فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَا أَنَا قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ كَأَنَّهُ كَرِهَ قَوْلَهُ أَنَا
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, he says: I sought permission from the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Who is it? I said: It is me, me. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Me, me... what is this?" Muhammad, the narrator, says: It is as if the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, disliked the word "me."

Benefits: … Reflect upon the noble habits and manners of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam—how much seriousness and dignity there is. These habits were being introduced more than fourteen centuries ago.
