بَابُ النَّهْي عَنْ ابْتَدَاءِ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ بِالسَّلامِChapter on the Prohibition of Initiating Salam with the People of the Book
Hadith 8275

(وَعَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَبْدَءُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى بِالسَّلَامِ وَإِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ فَاضْطَرُّوهُمْ إِلَى أَضْيَقِهَا
(Second chain) The Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Do not initiate greeting the Jews and Christians with salam, and when you meet them on the road, force them to the narrowest part of the path.
