Hadith 8207

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid bin Abdur-Rabah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I was present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of sacrifice, and another man from the Quraysh was also with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was distributing the sacrificial animals; neither did he (peace and blessings be upon him) take a sacrificial animal nor did that man take one. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had his blessed head shaved and the hair was collected in a cloth. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave those hairs to his companion, who distributed them among some people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also had his nails trimmed and gave them to his companion. Those blessed hairs of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) are still with us; they are dyed with henna and katam.
