Abu Kulayb Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I said: I have become a Muslim. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Then cast off the hair of disbelief. Another narrator stated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shave the hair of disbelief. Another man informed me that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to another person: Remove the hair of disbelief and perform circumcision.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The commentator of Abu Dawud, Allamah Azimabadi, says: Allah Ta'ala knows best; in any case, it appears that the meaning and purport of this hadith is not that every person who becomes Muslim should shave his head. Here, by saying "hair of disbelief," the hair has been attributed to disbelief, which indicates that this was a particular style of hair that was considered a symbol of the disbelievers. These symbols vary in different regions, … … . Furthermore, it is understood from this hadith that circumcision (khitan) is a sign of Islam, and it is obligatory for one who accepts Islam to undergo circumcision. (Awn al-Ma'bud: 1/208)
