Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he met a woman and sensed a very pleasant and strong fragrance from her. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked her: "Do you intend to go to the mosque?" She replied: "Yes." He asked: "Is that why you have applied perfume?" She replied: "Yes." He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any woman who applies perfume for the mosque, Allah does not accept her prayer until she performs a bath like the bath of major ritual impurity (ghusl janabah). Therefore, go back and perform ghusl."
