عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي دَقِرَةُ أُمُّ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ قَالَتْ كُنَّا نَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ مَعَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فَرَأَتْ عَلَى امْرَأَةٍ بُرْدًا فِيهِ تَصْلِيبٌ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اطْرَحِيهِ اطْرَحِيهِ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا رَأَى نَحْوَ هَذَا قَضَبَهُ
It is narrated from Umm Abdur Rahman Daqrah, she says: I was performing Tawaf of the House of Allah with Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and she saw a woman wearing a sheet in which there was a cross sign. Sayyida said: Throw it away, throw it away, when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to see it, he would cut it out.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The ruling concerning the image of the cross is not the same as that of images of animate beings, because there is a false belief associated with the cross. Therefore, neither its symbol nor its image should be visible in the homes of Muslims.
