(Second chain) It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I used to visit the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) twice a day, day and night. Whenever I entered upon him and he was praying, he would clear his throat. One night I came to him and he said: Do you know that an angel has brought a new command? Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I was praying when I heard some movement in the house. When I went outside, it was Jibreel (peace be upon him). He said: I was waiting for you this night, but there was a dog in your house, so I could not enter. We do not enter a house in which there is a dog, a person in a state of major impurity (junub), or a picture.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There is no authentic hadith regarding the angels of mercy not entering a house because of a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub). Furthermore, at times the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would also delay the ritual bath (ghusl) of janabah until the morning. If such a narration is considered authentic by any scholar, then what is meant by it is a person who habitually delays the ritual bath (ghusl) of janabah. It is also possible that what is intended is the person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) who does not perform ablution (wudu) before sleeping at night, because Imam al-Nasa’i has established this chapter regarding the narration of Sayyiduna Ali radi Allahu anhu: “Chapter regarding the junub who does not perform ablution (wudu).” And Allah knows best what is correct.
