Hadith 8051

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مَوْلَى أَسْمَاءَ أَيْضًا قَالَ أَخْرَجَتْ إِلَيْنَا أَسْمَاءُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا جُبَّةً مَزْرُورَةً بِالدِّيبَاجِ فَقَالَتْ فِي هَذِهِ كَانَ يَلْقَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَدُوَّ
Abdullah narrates that Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) placed a cloak before us, which had silk buttons. She said: This is the cloak in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to meet the enemy, (that is, he wore it in both times of peace and war).

Benefits: … The summary of this chapter is that for adornment or any general necessity, it is permissible to use silk up to the extent of four fingers. If silk buttons are made or silk is applied over buttons, then one must also adhere to this same quantity.
