Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) brought a silk garment to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! If you buy this garment and wear it when delegations of people come to you. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Only he can wear this who has no share in the Hereafter. Then three silk garments were brought to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent one garment to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), one garment to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and one garment to Sayyiduna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with them both). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) brought that garment to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! You have sent this garment to me, while previously you had expressed dislike for it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I sent this silk garment to you so that you may sell it or make headscarves from it and distribute them among your women. But Sayyiduna Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) came wearing that garment, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: I did not send it to you so that you would wear it; I sent it so that you would sell it. The narrator says: I do not know whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) or not, to make headscarves from it.
