Hadith 7986

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تَسْتَضِيئُوا بِنَارِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَا تَنْقُشُوا خَوَاتِيمَكُمْ عَرَبِيًّا
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not seek light from the fire of the polytheists, and do not engrave Arabic inscriptions on your rings.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Before the ring of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, no form of inscription was known among the Arabs; therefore, by “Arabic inscription” is meant the words “Muhammad Rasul Allah.”
