Alqamah says: One day we were sitting with Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) and Zaid bin Hudair was also with us. Then Sayyiduna Khabbab (may Allah be pleased with him) entered and said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! Do all of them recite in the same way as you recite? He said: If you wish, I can order some of them to recite to you. He said to me: Yes, recite. Ibn Hudair said: You are ordering him to recite, even though he is not more learned than us? He said: By Allah! If you wish, I can inform you of what the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said for your people and his people. He says: I recited fifty verses of Surah Maryam. He said: You did well. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whatever I recite, he has also recited it. Then Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him): Now the time has come for this ring to be thrown away. He said: After today, you will not see a gold ring on me.
