Salim bin Abi Ja'd narrates from a man of his tribe, he says: I entered upon the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I was wearing a gold ring, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a stick and struck my hand and said: Throw it away. That man says: I went outside and indeed threw it away, then when I returned, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What happened to the ring? I said: I have thrown it away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I had commanded you to benefit from it, not to throw it away.
