Sayyiduna Abu Tha’labah Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a gold ring in my hand. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a stick in his hand, and he began to strike my hand with it. Then, when the attention of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was diverted, I removed the ring and threw it away. Now, when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards me and did not see the ring in my hand, he said: I think we have caused you distress and imposed a burden on you.
