Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a ring made and wore it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Today, this has distracted me from you; sometimes I kept looking at it and sometimes at you." Then he threw away the ring.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Regarding this hadith, we will only write a summary of the discussion by Mawlana Ataullah Hanif Bhojiani: The ring mentioned in this hadith does not refer to the signet ring (the ring with a seal), rather, prior to this, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had a ring made for adornment. However, when he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam observed that he was unable to pay attention to the Companions radi Allahu anhum, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam discarded it, not due to its being forbidden, but on account of its being disliked (karahah). Later, the issue of the signet ring arose. (Al-Ta‘liqat al-Salafiyyah ‘ala Sunan al-Nasa’i: 2/290)
