Hadith 7952

عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ خَوَاتِيمِ الذَّهَبِ وَآنِيَةِ الْفِضَّةِ وَالْحَرِيرِ وَالدِّيبَاجِ وَالْإِسْتَبْرَقِ وَالْمَيَاثِرِ الْحُمْرِ وَالْقَسِّيِّ
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from (wearing) gold rings, (using) silver utensils, silk, dibaj and istabraq (types of silk), red silk cushions, and qassi (striped silk fabric).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Fine silk is called "sundus," while thick and coarse silk is called "istabraq." When gold threads are woven into silk, it is also referred to as "istabraq." The purpose is that every type of silk is forbidden (haram) for men, whether it is fine or thick, soft or hard.
