Hadith 7947

Syedna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade me from (using) Maitharah and Qassi. The people asked: O Commander of the Faithful! What is Maitharah? He said: These are (silk cushions) which women make in their homes for their husbands. We asked: What is Qassi? He said: This is a flowery (silk) cloth brought to us from the direction of Syria, in which patterns like oranges were made. Abu Burdah says: When I saw the cloth made in the Sabn region, I realized that these are the same.
