Hadith 7946

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مِنْ طَرِيقٍ ثَانٍ نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ لِبَاسِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْمَيَاثِرِ وَالْمُعَصْفَرِ وَعَنْ قِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَالرَّجُلُ رَاكِعٌ أَوْ سَاجِدٌ
. (Second chain) Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) forbade me from (wearing) silk clothing, silk cushions, dyed (with safflower) clothes, and from reciting the Noble Qur'an while a person is in the state of bowing (ruku') or prostration (sujud).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … The explanation of "mu‘aṣfar" has already been given. It is not permissible for men to use silk, whether it is in the form of clothing, or in the form of a cushion, or as a saddle or saddlecloth.
