Abu Mujib says that Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) met Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) had made the hilt of his sword from silver. Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) stopped him and said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever leaves behind silver or gold, he will be branded with it.

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Engaging in trade of gold and silver, keeping them in one’s possession, a woman wearing jewelry made of both, and a man using silver—all these matters are permissible and lawful. In reality, this hadith is instilling aversion towards worldly adornment and beautification, because, for the most part, worldly wealth and riches become a cause of corruption.
