Hadith 7912

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say, on the occasion of a battle: Wear shoes frequently, for as long as a person keeps wearing shoes, it is as if he is mounted (riding).

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … Imam Nawawi has said that a person who walks wearing shoes remains safe from the hardness and roughness of the path, from thorns, and other harmful things, as compared to one who walks barefoot; his feet remain protected, and the hardship and fatigue are lessened. In this regard, in this hadith, such a person has been likened to a mounted rider. Furthermore, it is also understood from this that a traveler should make use of things that assist him during his journey.
