عَنْ نَافِعٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا كَانَ يَلْبَسُ السِّبْتِيَّةَ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ فِيهَا وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُهُ
Nafi' says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to wear Sabti shoes and perform ablution in them, and he narrated that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do the same.
Brief Explanation
Benefits: … By "sibt" is meant leather that has been dyed with the color of a cow, or, in general, any dyed leather. The literal meaning of the word "sibt" is "to remove." The reason for this naming is that, through the process of dyeing, the hair is removed from the leather.
